What is DA’s Ptosis Correction?

Ptosis correction is a surgery that creates large and clear eyes from blepharoptosis which is when eyelids cover too much of the eyes, causing seemingly tired and sleepy eyes.

What is a blepharoptosis? The upper eyelids are connected with muscles (Levator palpebralls superioris muscle) that lift the eyelids up and down. In case of blepharoptosis, these muscles are not strong enough to lift the eyelids, so they droop and spaces between the eyelids get smaller (small eyes). Due to drooping eyelids, one may not be able to open one's eyes properly. In this case, the muscles of the forehead tend to be excessively used to lift up the eyelids, which leads to wrinkles on the forehead. One may tend to raise the chin to look to the front, which can cause secondary problems, so it must be corrected.

Ptosis correction is effective in blepharoptosis that causes eyelids to interrupt the eyes due to low capability of lifting eyelids, so incision is made to the muscle to make it shorter for correction.
When in case of blepharoptosis, diagnosing only double eyelid surgery can make eyes look smaller or result stuffy eyes, so-called ‘sausage eyes’, leaving eyes looking unnatural; therefore, treatment from a skilled and accurately diagnosing doctor is very essential.

Non-incision Ptosis Correction
VS Incision Ptosis Correction

Ptosis correction can be done in two ways, incisional and non-incisional, depending on the amount of fat, thickness of the skin, and severity of drooped eyelids.
It is advisable that you choose the best fitting method for yourself through appropriate counseling with your doctor.

Non-incisional ptosis correction
Those with less fat on eyelid
Those with fairly thin eyelids
Those with low severity of seemingly sleepy and tired eyes
Cannot remove fat from eyelid

Incisional ptosis correction
Those with stuffy eyelids
Those with thick eyelids
Those with high severity of seemingly sleepy and tired eyes
Can remove fat from eyelid

Candidates for DA Ptosis Correction

Those with blepharoptosis

Those with seemingly sleepy and tired eyes due to eyelids covering excessive area of eyes

Those with wrinkles on the forehead due to usage of forehead muscles when lifting eyelids up, or those with fatigue eyes

Those who desire clear and bright eyes by extending the length of eyes
