Precautions : After Eye Surgery Post-operative Precautions after Eye Surgery 01 Position  Until a week from surgery, maintain an upright position especially your neck and upper body area to help ease swelling by keeping your head higher than your heart When sleeping.  Do not lie down with your face to the side or upside down. When sleeping, have your face facing up towards the ceiling. 02 Meal  Any regular meal can be taken, but please avoid foods with strong-taste.  03 Swelling  Swelling and bruising intensifies for 48 hours after surgery. It will get better within 2~4 weeks and differs by each individual.  Apply ice pack for 3 days including operation day, then no fomentation is necessary. 04 Scar management Crying or Rubbing the eye is prohibited.  Pressuring the eyes is prohibited for it might cause bleeding.  The time of removing stitches differ depending on surgical method. They are usually removed after 2 to 10 days after the surgery
